Fix a date and time with your registrar
Decide on guest numbers – discuss with all parents
Visit reception venues and book as soon as possible
11 months to go
Send out “save the date” cards
Book your photographer and just check the church or venue allows photography – we do
Book caterer – through us if you are using our venue
Book band and / or DJ
Make an appointment to try on wedding dresses
10 months to go
Pick your bridesmaids, ushers and best man
Decide on your dress – allow at least 4 months for delivery
Start to think about your honeymoon – destination and cost
9 months to go
Find a florist
Discuss buttonholes, bouquets and the arrangements for each venue
Confirm your menu choice and drinks package with your venue
Choose and order your bridesmaids outfits
8 months to go
If you’re marrying in a church discuss music with the minister
If you are using our venue readings and music are permitted providing there is no reference to religion
Order invitations and envelopes as well as place cards and menus if appropriate
7 months to go
Book transport to your wedding venue if required
Don’t forget to book transport to the 1st night accommodation
Order your wedding cake
Choose and order favours if you are having them. Or arrange someone to make them
6 months to go
Remind your fiancé to get his and the ushers outfits
Choose gifts for your attendants, helpers, best man and mums.
Pick your wedding rings
Confirm your order of service and arrange copies for all those that need one
Discuss hen & stag nights with friends
Organise your guest list
5 months to go
If you are changing your name, now is the time to renew your passport – you will need to ask the minister/registrar to sign the appropriate form
Consider what you want to do with your hair and book a hairdresser to discuss your plans and an appointment for the big day
4 months to go
Go shopping! Remember summer honeymoon clothes aren’t easy to find in winter
Find out if you need visas or innoculations for travel abroad
Prompt your fiancé to book your first night hotel
3 months to go
Try out different looks with your makeup
Send out invitations and keep a list of acceptances and refusals
Reconfirm all your bookings
Write your vows if you’re composing your own and start working on speeches
2 months to go
Check your fiancé has the rings, his wedding clothes, your 1st night hotel and the buttonholes sorted
Try on your whole outfit – forgotten anything get it now!
Book any beauty treatments
1 month to go
Let the venue/caterer know the final guest numbers

Discuss your special requests with the DJ/band
Order honeymoon currency
Go on hen/stag nights – it’s time to party!!!
On the big day
Relax ... and give yourself plenty of time to get ready
Have bouquets & buttonholes delivered or arrange to be collected
Take a moment to relax and centre yourself. It’s time to go go go!!
