The Master Plan

One of the top firms architects in the world have been appointed to build a new building on our Grade I Listed site and help us plan for our future. Broadway Malyan presented their initial ideas to a panel of representatives from the local Parish Council, Sir John Moore Primary School and the Foundation on Friday 25th March. They were unanimously selected for their visionary building that fully embeds our successes in sharing the site between the school and the local community, ensuring long term sustainability, and providing a diverse range of opportunities for local people.

Our key themes of heritage, learning, community and enterprise, will be taken forward and strengthened by this scheme through an innovative build which will provide the local school children, and the local community, with additional space for a variety of activities. Over a hundred local people came to an Open Day last month and had the chance to discuss with members of the architect team and the selecting panel the initial proposals. Visitors were encouraged to leave their thoughts and suggestions and over 150 questionnaires have now been completed and are being analysed.

The Open Day also included the unveiling of the 'willow pod' sculptures created by our young people with displays and activities prepared by our youth and community groups, podcasts and the premier of "Victorian travels" a film made by young people looking back at education in Victorian times.

The Foundation and School are now preparing to work closely with the architects the community as well as English Heritage and the local authority to fully develop the proposals. Community Builders have provided the funding for this stage, we will be looking to raise additional capital sources from a number of sources.
