Signature of Sir Robert Burdett (governor) on a 1708 set of school accounts.

The Burdetts, a significant local family, supplied school governors throughout the 18th C. Related to the Gresleys, Sir Robert was a Foundation Governor and a further 5 generations served until 1817. Their residence, Foremarke Hall, substantially remodelled around 1760, is also now a Grade 1 listed building housing a school – the private Repton Preparatory School.
