Deeds establishing the charitable trust

Deeds signed by Sir John Moore establishing the charitable trust for the Appleby School.

John Moore purchased the land on which the Appleby school was built, paid for its building and oversaw its design. He left farm land in nearby Upton to provide an ongoing income to pay the main teachers. He established the terms of the trust to run the charity whose trustees were to include family members. The document bears his signature and seal.
