J J Robinson, the youngest of 5 sons to attend Appleby school, entering in 1883 (photo as a cricketer & school prize).

JJ Robinson studied law at St. John's, Cambridge. Involved in cricket and rugby - he was the first Appleby boy to get his "blue". In a match against MCC, he caught W.G. Grace out in first match (for 139) and bowled him out in the second (for 196)! Played rugby internationally in 1902.
