Photo of black and white postcard of Church Street (unmade), including the Queen Adelaide public house (now demolished).
Queen Adelaide was the wife of King William IV (on the throne from 1831 until his death in 1837). She then became the Queen dowager during the reign of her niece, Queen Victoria. Adelaide was known for her charitable works. She visited the Gopsall Estate and several local places are named for her including Queen St in Measham and this pub in Appleby Magna.
